My Story
Ever since childhood, I’ve been captivated by the shifting colours of skies, rivers, hills, and forests. Based in the sunny Tasman region of Aotearoa, New Zealand, I channel that lifelong wonder into vivid, joy filled art.
My work is bright, bold, and unapologetically optimistic. A celebration of the landscapes that inspire us and the emotions they awaken. I believe art should uplift, spark joy, and deepen our connection to the natural world.
Each painting begins with a sketch, a memory, or the way light hits a certain place. I wander & gather photos, colour palettes, moods & textures. Then bring them back to my studio, where they become inspiration for my work
How It Began
Leigh Marie Studio began as a personal creative outlet and slowly grew into a constant art practice. What started with pencil sketches and small studies evolved into a signature style focused on colour, movement, and emotional connection to New Zealand’s landscapes.
Each piece still starts the same way with a place, a feeling, or a moment I don’t want to forget.
Whats Next
I’m currently expanding into new collections inspired by New Zealand’s wild places, with a deeper focus on storytelling through landscape and memory.
Alongside original works and prints, I’m continuing to explore new ways to share the creative process and create meaningful pieces for collectors to live with and love.
